What a way to finish the season. Last weekend was the final weekend of the regular season, including conference championships, and there were some pretty incredible games.
Pitt-WV was tight until the end with points flying left and right.
The ACC championship was the same. The game actually went the way I wanted. I was rooting for the higher ranked team, Georgia Tech, to help the ACC keep more respectability. I’m also very curious to see what Tech’s option offense is going to do against a high ranked team outside of the conference.
While I wanted Tech to win I wanted CJ Spiller to have a big game to help boost his Heisman candidacy. He came through with a huge game, and I think he was a little unfortunate to not be included in the group of finalists.
To close out the day of football watching for me has to be one of the best games I”ve watched in a long time. Before the weekend I told a number of people that I would never be a biger Crimson Tide fan as Saturday. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but a little part of me feels bad for Tim Tebow, just because what everyone has to admit is a storybook college career ended on a really bad note. But I don’t feel the least bit bad for the rest of the Gators.
And while we’re on the topic of huge upset. The mighty of the Pac-10 fell this year and they fell hard. The final nail in the coffin of USC’s season was a loss to Arizona at home. I wasn’t wishing for or thinking about this one, but man what a gift from the college football gods at the end of the season.
Can’t wait to see what happens with bowl season brings us this year.
