Audio Addiction: Kings of Leon

Usually, when I do an Audio Addiction its for a specific album, but I’m bending my own rules a little bit and doing “double disc” AA this time around.  I got the three most recent Kings of Leon CDs this past Christmas, and I’ve been slightly obsessed with two of them ever since.  Not to say that I dislike Aha Shake, Heartbreak, but it hasn’t worked its way into my blood like crack in the same way that Only by the Night and Because of the Times have.

I’ll readily admit that I’m a little bit of a latecomer to KoL, but I’m completely hooked at this point.  They’ve already earn top five band status for me.  Maybe top three.  One thing that struck me right off was something that I loved about the Fiest’s The Reminder. While all of the tracks fit into the same genre of music, they have a wildly varying tone to them that keeps their albums interesting.  Centering around pretty straightforward rock, they wander from sort of dark and eerie to driving rock to cold and isolated.

I haven’t listened to Aha Shake Heartbreak as much as the other two, so perhaps in time I will come to like it as much as the others, but I feel like the band really hit their stride in their last two albums.  I still need to get a hold of their first and see how that compares.

Below are a couple of my favorite tracks for you to check out.
