Avatar in 3D

If you haven’t yet, go see Avatar in 3D now.

I honestly wasn’t all that interested in seeing it when it first came out, but my brother and a good friend, among others, did enough recommending that Cris and I decided to go see it last night.  It didn’t take long to realize that Avatar is going to end up being more of a phenomenon than a movie.

Audio Addiction: Pearl Jam’s Backspacer

I fail at blogging.  I wrote this post like three weeks ago and thought I published it.  Apparently not.  Here it is anyway.

The biggest difference between this and previous PJ records is that its…happy?  My first reaction when I started listening was, “huh? what happened to the dark and brooding PJ I know and love?”  After I got past how different it was from their previous albums, I quickly realized how good of a straightforward rock album it is.  It easily takes its place as one of my favorite PJ albums.

Two Movie Reviews

Recently saw a couple of movies that I thought I’d put my two cents in on.

We watched Elizabethtown on DVD the other day at the house.  It was a little different than I expected, but it was really good.  The thirty second summary: On the same day Orland Bloom discovers that the shoe he designed for his company is a catastrophic failure to the tune of $972 million, he also finds out that his father died.  His mother and sister, who can’t handle it, send him to Kentucky to bring his father home to Oregon.  On the flight to Kentucky Bloom meets unusual flight attendant Kirsten Dunst.

Kim Wade at Silverbox Photographers

This post is well overdue, but I’ve just been really busy at work and tired when I’m home so I haven’t taken the time write much lately.  After watching our slideshow for the 100th time I decided it was time.

One of the most important things to me when we were doing our wedding planning was our photographer.  As you might have noticed from past posts I’m a wannabe photographer myself.  I also love to go back and look at photos from the past and I knew that having a good wedding album was going to be important to me.  All my wishes and more were fulfilled with Kim Wade of Silverbox Photographers.

Plain and simple Kim Wade was the perfect photographer.  Artistically brilliant and far and away the best person we dealt with through the whole wedding process.

I will let Kim’s work speak for itself.  I can’t do her justice in words.  Check out her work on our wedding and our engagement session.

What I can say is that there is no one that could have done a better job working with us during the whole process.  Kim has a great ability to make you not feel self-conscious in front of the camera, which is critical to getting great photos.  Her energy is infectious and she makes it hard for you to not enjoy the whole photo shoot experience.

One of my favorite things about Kim is that she’s all about getting the best possible shots she can, no matter what.  I love to tell the anecdote of when she laid down on the sidewalk in Old Town Alexandria to get a shot of us where you could see the cobblestones in the foreground.  You can actually see one of the pictures where Cris and I are cracking up at people in a car driving buy that are looking at her while she’s taking the shot.

Bottom line is that Kim is really incredible.  If you ever have any need for a photographer there is no one better you can go to.
