Back in South Carolina

Finally made it back to South Carolina to visit my folks and played golf with a bunch of college friends later in the week.  Wanted to share a couple of random thoughts.

I doubt there are an overwhelming number of you out there, but anyone that decides to drive 95 from DC to Greenville/Charlotte/Atlanta instead of taking 66 to 81 is a fool.  There is way less traffic and the drive is much more attractive on 81.

It might be psychological, but good sweet tea in the South tastes better than good sweet tea not in the South.  I don’t really know what it is about it, but its a little slice of heaven.

Today confirmed for me that I need to find a good BBQ place back home.  Pulled pork sandwich, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans was a good start to my Southern Culinary tour.  Next up are Waffle House and Zaxby’s.

The main event for the day was a train ride, essentially straight up a mountain, to one of the higher peaks in the immediate area. We had hoped for Continue reading
