Video of the Chevy Volt in Wind Tunnel Testing

The best way to describe my view of American car makers over the last 10 years or so is probably pity.  I really want to like American cars more, but when it comes down to it, they haven’t been making vehicles, besides trucks and SUVs, that people like and they don’t last as long.

With that in mind, the possibilities that I see with the Chevy Volt are making me cautiously excited.  I love the idea of the car and what its striving for, and I’m rooting as hard as I can that Chevy is able to get the car in production on schedule.  The technology they’re trying to produce is truly revolutionary and could have a huge impact on American society.

In addition to the positive impacts it could have on the American car industry, American energy policy, and environmental concerns, in my opinion the car actually looks really cool.  You can see some pictures of the car here, and check out video of the car undergoing wind tunnel testing.  I haven’t seen the concept version of the Volt, but a good number of fans of the concept are disappointed in what it looks like now.  Many of the body changes were made to decrease wind resistance and increase efficiency, but I think the car looks pretty sweet.

I also think the interior looks awesome.  It just has a cool futuristic polish to it.  I’d like to see the interior in person, because one problem I’ve had with the interior of a lot of American cars is that it just looks cheap.  The pictures I’ve seen don’t come across as cheap, and I just hope that that is actually the case.
