Maybe the most amazing day on our trip, the Swiss Alps are simply incredible. These photos are from the morning in Montreux and the afternoon spent at the summit of Rochers-de-Naye.

Photos of Venice
Lots of pictures today. Though it wasn’t my favorite place we went to during the honeymoon, it turned out to be one of the most photographically interesting.
Photos from Siena
The last city we visited while we were still down in Tuscany, Siena was probably my favorite bigger city we visited in Italy. Here are some photos we took in the city, from the city of the surrounding area, and a couple we took that day when we got back to Radda at the end of the day.
Kim Wade at Silverbox Photographers
This post is well overdue, but I’ve just been really busy at work and tired when I’m home so I haven’t taken the time write much lately. After watching our slideshow for the 100th time I decided it was time.
One of the most important things to me when we were doing our wedding planning was our photographer. As you might have noticed from past posts I’m a wannabe photographer myself. I also love to go back and look at photos from the past and I knew that having a good wedding album was going to be important to me. All my wishes and more were fulfilled with Kim Wade of Silverbox Photographers.
Plain and simple Kim Wade was the perfect photographer. Artistically brilliant and far and away the best person we dealt with through the whole wedding process.
I will let Kim’s work speak for itself. I can’t do her justice in words. Check out her work on our wedding and our engagement session.
What I can say is that there is no one that could have done a better job working with us during the whole process. Kim has a great ability to make you not feel self-conscious in front of the camera, which is critical to getting great photos. Her energy is infectious and she makes it hard for you to not enjoy the whole photo shoot experience.
One of my favorite things about Kim is that she’s all about getting the best possible shots she can, no matter what. I love to tell the anecdote of when she laid down on the sidewalk in Old Town Alexandria to get a shot of us where you could see the cobblestones in the foreground. You can actually see one of the pictures where Cris and I are cracking up at people in a car driving buy that are looking at her while she’s taking the shot.
Bottom line is that Kim is really incredible. If you ever have any need for a photographer there is no one better you can go to.
Photos from Gaiole, Meleto and Brolio
Today’s photo installment comes from what might have been my favorite day from the honeymoon. When we talked about going to Italy for our honeymoon, this is what I was imagining. I already told you about the time we spent in these places and I’m finally posting the pictures from the day.
Photos from Volterra and San Gimignano
Some more shots from the honeymoon. These are a from the first two hill towns that we visited in the Tuscan countryside, Volterra and San Gimignano.
Photos from Tuscany
Finally getting around to putting up some more of our pictures from our honeymoon trip. We took these pictures around the little town we stayed in, Radda in Chianti, while we were in Tuscany. These will give you a good idea how incredible the area is and how amazing the view from our hotel room was.
Photos from Florence
A lot of people have been asking about pictures from our honeymoon and I simply haven’t taken the time to go through them and upload them yet. Given that there are somewhere between 1,200 and 1,500 pictures from the trip I’m not uploading them all. This first installment is a sampling of unedited pictures from our time in Florence.
Pictures from Montana
So I took the holiday today to finally do some editing on some pictures I took while I was in Montana for work a little while back. Actually, I think it was like two months ago so I’m just about right on schedule for me for getting pics posted.
Keep in mind that this is the first time I really did anything with photos I took in the RAW format and really tried to do any “digital darkroom” work on them. Hopefully, they didn’t turn out too bad.
Go here to see the pics.
Monticello Visit and Photo
This past weekend my cousin was playing in a golf tournament in Charlottesville, VA. Since he lives in the Denver area and I rarely get to see him, Cris and I drove down to have lunch with him on Saturday. We had talked a lot about going to Monticello, but had never gone so we decided to make our way over there and check it out while we were down there.
The house was pretty cool, though I prefer the Mt. Vernon house tour over Monticello, because you’re able to go through more of the house at Mt. Vernon. Despite the somewhat limited tour, Jefferson had some really cool stuff in his house. I had always heard that he incorporated some of his inventions into the house, but he had some stuff in there that I never expected to see. One of the cooler ones was an early version of double paned windows he had in his dining room to help keep it warm. Another cool thing that I never knew about were the sky lights in a couple of the rooms. Just not something you really see in houses from that era.
While I like the house tour of Mt. Vernon more, I think I like the grounds and views at Monticello better. Monticello is actually Italian for little mountain, which the house sits on, and the view is incredible, particularly when the leaves are getting a little color in them. The estate is nestled next to mountains on one side with rolling hills stretching out the other direction. It is pretty incredible. Jefferson was also an accomplished botanist which resulted in a great variety of flowers and trees on the grounds.
Finally, I tried to take advantage of the scenery to test out my new, big memory card for my camera to shoot in RAW. RAW is a format that maintains all of the color and lighting information of the digital negative and, in turn, gives you more options to refine your image on the computer when you’re trying to prepare it for presentation. Below is my first attempt at shooting in this format and trying to edit the photo afterwards. Not sure how successful I was. I like the picture, but I’m not sure how much credit I get, or how much should go to the setting. Hope you like it. I hope to post a few more pictures from the day soon. Only problem with RAW is that it takes more time to edit the photos.
